Nurse Anita Cates of The Family Medicine Center & ACE Diabetes provided FREE Blood Pressure and Glucose testing for Hands for Hunger Pantry Clients.
This is part of the H4H Empowerment Program that they’ve implemented this year as a way to assist clients with more than just food.
“The Hands for Hunger Empowerment Programme is the next step in our unique approach to food assistance in The Bahamas. At Hands for Hunger, we know that food insecurity does not have to be a long term reality for anyone. We seek to provide our clients with various tools and opportunities to make healthy food choices. In collaboration with our network of community partners, we will also host discussions, workshops and training sessions to help our clients to develop new skills in all aspects of their life.” – Keisha Ellis, Executive Director
Clients were also treated to smoothies and shown how they can make nutritious and affordable ones at home.
