Family Medicine and Geriatric Specialist
Dr. Sanita Belgrave-King is a highly accomplished Family Medicine and Geriatric Specialist based in New Providence, the Bahamas. With a distinguished medical career spanning over a decade, she has garnered recognition for her exceptional clinical skills, compassionate patient care, and dedication to advancing healthcare.
Beginning her journey at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados, Dr. Belgrave-King quickly rose to prominence, earning the prestigious title of Outstanding Intern of the Year in 2013. Her quest for excellence led her to assume roles as a Senior House Officer in the Internal Medicine Department at Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport, Grand Bahama, and later a Senior Registrar in the Family Medicine Department at Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau, New Providence.
Dr. Belgrave-King’s commitment to lifelong learning and global experience led her to an enriching Exchange Program at Baptist Health South Florida Hospital in the United States. She later honed her skills and knowledge, culminating in the attainment of a Diploma in Family Medicine with Distinction, a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine with Distinction, and a Doctorate in Family Medicine.
Throughout her career, Dr. Belgrave-King has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to the field of medicine. She is the current Vice Chair of the World Organisation of Family Doctors (WONCA) Polaris (2024). She received the Prime Award from the Public Hospitals Authority for demonstrating star excellence in Family Medicine at South Beach Health Center in 2023. In the realm of research, she has focused on the barriers that persons living with HIV and AIDS faced and received accolades for Best Research at the Medical Association of Bahamas (MAB) Conference in 2017.
Passionate about serving vulnerable populations, Dr. Belgrave-King has volunteered with the National Disability Unit in Barbados, conducted prostate cancer screenings with the Us Too Bahamas Chapter, and provided critical assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma and Dorian in the Bahamas. During the COVID pandemic, the increasing death toll of the elderly led her to sub-specialise in geriatric medicine in her unwavering commitment to advocating for the health and well-being of older adults.
Beyond her medical endeavors, Dr. Belgrave-King enjoys indulging in her passions for reading, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends. Her multifaceted expertise, coupled with her genuine compassion, makes her a valued asset to the medical community and a trusted advocate for patient care.
